Step Down! ODM Tells KRA, Kenya Power Chairpersons Over UDA Election Roles
The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) now wants Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) chairman Anthony Mwaura and KPLC board chair Joy Mdivo to resign from public office after they were appointed to the UDA Party positions.
Yesterday, Ruto chaired the National Steering Committee meeting at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Headquarters in Nairobi and made significant changes to the UDA elections board.

Speaking to the press in Nairobi on Wednesday, April 3, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on behalf of the party stated that public officials cannot simultaneously represent the interests of Kenyans and political parties.
He contended that such a scenario would mirror the situation observed during the KANU regime in the 1980s when public servants and party leaders were synonymous.
The Senator from Nairobi asserted that the actions of the UDA Party would lead to authoritarianism and bias in governing public matters.
"We are staring at the return of the Party-State system last seen where party leaders and public servants were the same thing. What followed was a youth wing with watchdog or surveillance responsibilities over the entire nation," the statement read in part.
"We take the position that this development is wrong, it is a recipe for chaos and dictatorship and partisanship in the management of public affairs. Consequently, we demand that all those people who have been named as UDA officials must immediately resign from public service. There is no way they will serve two masters, the public and the UDA Party," said Sifuna.
Furthermore, the ODM Party demanded that officials in the Ministry of Agriculture step down due to the counterfeit fertilizer scandal, which has endangered the country's economy.
"We therefore reiterate that heads must roll. Officers at the Ministry of Agriculture, NCPB who have direct responsibility for fertilizer, seeds and certification must immediately quit their positions and pave way for proper investigations.
"Those found guilty must be charged with sabotage and organized criminal activity."
The party also alleged that UDA significantly supported the filing of petitions aimed at obstructing the implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
"The meeting further noted with concern what appears to be coordinated attempts to derail the implementation of the NADCO report. It is becoming apparent that some if not all of these court cases are state sponsored," Sifuna reiterated.
"If indeed elements in the regime are having second thoughts regarding proposals they signed out of their own volition, they should come out clearly to say so instead of sponsoring these cases."
Sifuna also announced the ODM grassroots elections which will kick off this month beginning on 27th in Kwale, Busia, and Siaya Counties. Kajiado, Migori, Wajir on 29th and Kisii, Vihiga, Muranga on 30th.
A further timetable covering the next batch of counties to be released in due course.
